An Electronic Vessel Control (EVC) system consisting of a Power-train Control Unit (PCU); Helm-station Control Unit (HCU) linking an EVC Display and EVC Control panel, Electronic Key System (EKS), engine throttle levers, engine running status and all relevant gauging. Powertrain Control Unit (PCU) handles the gear interfaces and the engine interface for the EVC system. It is also the power feed for the EVC system. Electronic Key System (EKS) consist of two elements, an electronic key (e-Key) using RFID to unlock and lock the system and a button panel (e-Key panel) to activate ignition and start/stop of engines. , The Volvo Penta EVC system is available with or without electronic steering functionality. Electronic steering is offered only with IPS package. The SUS is the main unit for the functionality, it includes the electric motor and its associated control used for steering. , Displays to show operational and alarm information: EVC color display 7 for engine and IPS information with multiple views, EVC color display 7 Alarm Display (AD) for extended alarm handling with alarm log and EVC color display 7 Steering Gear display (SG) to show rudder angle for each steering gear and alarms status. The joystick and the SU (Steering Unit), are inputs for the steering control (the joystick, in the docking mode functions also serves as input for propulsion control).,
